I have just had some interest about my experience from Nibras International School in Dubai, however I am a little dubious about even interviewing for this role (as I do not want to waste anyone's time).
I am aware that most schools in that side of the world like teachers to start in August, so I asked myself, 'why have you not appointed anyone yet? Or did you appoint someone and they dropped out at the last minute?'
I maybe over thinking it, however it is a big leap to take if you have never relocated abroad before, with these little questions niggling at you.
I have done my research and have found that the school:
- Got acceptable overall on their Government Inspection report
- They teach a US curriculum but the largest teacher group is British and the largest student group is Egyptian
- There is only one report from someone (maybe an ex teacher) who stated (in 2010) that they have a high turn over of staff
- And one report of the ex headteacher doing a 'Runner' without telling anyone and leaving his car in the car park
Now, I have spoken to various friends and have not gone into the details about the above points but they do think I am over-thinking it because they assume I do not really want to go but I definitely do as it is a once in a lifetime experience to work abroad but once I go I really do not want to feel like I made a major mistake and want to fly back a week later.
Anyone ever worked at this school? And if so, what were your experiences?
Thanks guys
